Back in 2012, Vermont pre-school teacher Maggie DeGreenia was heartbroken when her beloved cat Tinsel wandered away from home. Maggie spent weeks searching and putting up posters in the neighborhood. There was no sign of Tinsel. Eventually, Maggie just hoped that her pet had found a warm home elsewhere else.
Then earlier this month, Maggie finally got the text message of a lifetime. Maggie’s cousin was scrolling a local shelter’s website and spotted a familiar face. It was Tinsel, complete with her recognizable, "mustache" fur pattern.
Maggie rushed to the rescue center in tears — and the second they were reunited, Tinsel pressed her forehead against Maggie’s in a touching display of recognition that Maggie described as "the most incredible feeling.”
It turns out Tinsel had been living with another family for a few years before being surrendered — but she clearly never forgot Maggie.
Now, Tinsel is back home and settling in with her old family after a four-year adventure away from home.
Welcome home Tinsel <3 LUCY
