It's only a short amount of time until you won't be getting those bruises anymore from seeing a Volkswagen Beetle. The "punch buggy no punch back" days are fading and while you will still see some on the streets, coming next year you won't be able to purchase the car at dealerships anymore.
Volkswagen announced Thursday that it will retire the 'buggy' next year in 2019.
Before one of the most recognized cars are gone forever, the German car maker said it will make a “Final Edition” Beetle series. It will be available in either a convertible or hardtop and the base price will range from $23,045 for a coupe or $27,295 for a convertible.
Not too shabby in my opinion for one of the worlds best selling vehicles.
Volkswagen chief Woebcken also said ‘Never say never' when asked if the Beetle would ever rise back from the dead.
In case you're wondering, the “Final Edition” Beetle will end its production in Puebla, Mexico in July 2019.
