A talking duck may sound impossible, but audio of a four-year-old musk duck named Ripper swearing repeatedly was included in research published Monday. The recording was made in Australia back in the 1980s and features Ripper saying “you bloody fool” over and over, and that wasn’t his only trick; he could also imitate the sound of his aviary door slamming.
The audio was recently rediscovered, and scientists say analysis of the recordings is helping them look at how animals are capable of learning to speak through learning. The audio, which almost sounds like a deep-voiced woman speaking, is in the video below.
