SPACE RACE: Branson's Virgin Galactic Has Successful Flight

In one giant leap for commercial space travel, Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic made a successful trip to the edge of space and back on Sunday morning, making Branson the first person to fly into space on his own rocket.

Rather than a typical rocket, the Virgin craft is more like a plane that once separated from the carrier ship, sent Branson and crew of five into space where they experienced weightlessness before returning to earth minutes later.

The 70-year-old British billionaire called it "an experience of a lifetime." (The New York Times)
