"Hamilton" Drives Up Disney Plus App Downloads

A lot of people wanted to see Hamilton on Disney Plus over the holiday weekend.

Reports say that downloads of the Disney Plus app went up by 72 percent since the blockbuster premiered on Friday.

The U.S. download count was estimated at over 266,000. Worldwide, over 513,000 downloaded Disney Plus between July 3rd and July 5th.  

Disney is hoping that people who came to see Hamilton will keep subscribing to the streaming service.

"Mission: Impossible" And "Batman" Resume Filming In The UK

Several films have received exemptions to start filming again in the United Kingdom.

The 7th Mission: Impossible movie and The Batman were given exemptions over quarantine rules.

Other movies including Jurrasic World: Dominion and Disney's Cinderella remake will also be able to shoot in the U.K.

Cast and crew will have to be in a "bubble" environment. They will live very close to the studios and production areas.

'Weird Al' Gives 'Hamilton' The Musical Makeover You Didn't Know You Needed

If you were one of the many people who watched the debut of “Hamilton” on Disney+ over the weekend then “Weird Al” Yankovic has a tribute to the award-winning stage play that’s a must-see.

Yankovic created a polka version of the musical for creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 2018 “Hamildrops” series and over the weekend he released a video that celebrates moments from the stage play. You can check out the new visual on YouTube. 

JOEY CHESTNUT: Breaks Record at Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

COVID-19 couldn't stop JoeyChestnut from breaking a record.

The competitive-eating legend downed 75 dogs in 10 minutes on Saturday, beating his own mark of 74 from last year. Nathan's annual Hot Dog Eating Contest went on as usual but with a few changes because of the pandemic. No fans were allowed at the event and Plexiglass separated the competitors.

On the women's side, Miki Sudo ate 48.5 dogs.

Meanwhile, Chestnut won his 13th title and ate his 1,000th career dog on Saturday.
