Bud McDole is a resident of the Warm Beach Senior Community in Standwood, Washington, and he keeps busy by taking care of the plants in an atrium on the community campus.
Bud was able to upgrade the atrium in a big way when his fellow resident -- 101-year-old Maxine Bires -- donated her orchids to the project.
Bud installed a water fountain to care for the delicate plants, which inspired other residents to step up and help as well.
Amazingly, the collection of orchids grew to include about 30 plants.
The display is now so impressive that the administrators of the retirement community have opened the atrium up to the public so everyone can enjoy the orchids and other plants as much as the residents do. (Stanwood Camano News)
