Sewport.com, a site that connects people with clothing manufacturers. She’s saved up almost $20,000 to get a replica of her late mother’s wedding dress made… with human hair.
Admitting that it’s a “strange request,” she’s looking for someone to recreate the dress her late mother wore at her wedding in 1953 as a “special memento” by August of 2019, the anniversary of her mother’s passing. Her sketch of the design shows the sleeves, trim and neckline made from her dead mother’s actual hair, which she says she started collecting ever since she learned she was ill back in 2014… Fast forward four years, she has “one large box” of the hair, so she’s looking for a “specialist” who can handle the unique request and material.
“At the time I wasn’t quite sure why I was collecting it. However, now I think I do,” she wrote. “I’d also like the bodice around the midsection of the dress to have a lacy, floral design mad with the hair.”
"The designer, who has asked us to remain anonymous, is looking for a manufacturer to help her recreate her mother’s wedding dress with parts of the garment made using her mother’s hair, who recently passed."
"Now whilst this is one of the more unusual requests we’ve had, we know that someone out there will be able to help."
"If you think you’ll be able to lend a helping hand, get in touch with us here."
So far, no one has taken on the unusual. If you or someone you know is up to the challenge, visit the website HERE.
