When a woman started experiencing a mysterious pain in her stomach, she wasn’t sure what was going on inside her body. It could have been a number of things, but when she got checked out by doctors, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel condition.
However, the pain didn’t subside. So when doctors took a look inside the woman’s small intestine, they discovered something absolutely shocking.
They found a ketchup packet inside her body, but that wasn’t the most unbelievable part. The ketchup packet had been lodged inside the woman’s small intestine for six whole years!
In the video below, we clearly see the woman’s X-ray. There’s a red line pointing to the area where the ketchup packet — the true source of her pain — was discovered.
We also see the actual packet itself after it’s been removed. It sits in a small capsule: a specimen.
The condiment wrapper had actually cut into her stomach, causing symptoms very similar to those of Crohn’s disease. Luckily, the ketchup packet is finally out, and the woman’s stomach can heal for good — after six long years.
The only question left unanswered: How exactly did she end up swallowing the packet in the first place?
