Dad Doesn't Let Pregnant Teen Keep Baby, She Matches With Son Years Later

At the age of two, Kirk was adopted from a Vietnamese orphanage. He grew up with the belief that his birth parents died in the Vietnam war.

But that’s not what actually happened.

For 48 years, Kirk had no idea that his birth mother was still alive. Thuy-Nga Thi Nibblett, of Vietnamese decent, was 17 years old when she got pregnant with him during the Vietnam War.

Her father disapproved of her pregnancy; not only was she not married, but the baby’s father was American. To him, this was unacceptable.

Immediately after giving birth to Kirk, Thuy-Nga’s father took him away from her. The birth father, a serviceman, was transferred to another military base and never knew about the pregnancy. The pair eventually lost contact.

Thuy-Nga spent nearly five decades hoping and praying to be reunited with her son. In 2015, she signed up for a DNA website hoping he would eventually do the same.

Meanwhile, Kirk — now married with children and in his forties — was reluctant to conduct an online search. But his wife convinced him to take a chance.

Just days after submitting his DNA, Kirk received an email from a woman who told him to call her.

At first, he though this woman was surely mistaken.
