Second Day Hair?

Here's my current issue...

I'm LOVING my hair, but I realized the other day that I have no idea how to style "second day hair" at this length! Sure, I could put it half up, but what's the fun in that?!

Luckily, my friend Janelle at The Loft Hair Design on Abbott and Lake Otis has the answers!

A Letter from The Loft feat. Janelle:

"Hey guys! This is Janelle Abad from The Loft! Like most of you, I'm a busy girl. Kids, gym, housework, work, after school sports.... the list goes on. Blah, blah, blah. We are all busy, Right? Well, I'm also very LAZY with my hair. I know I know, as a hairdresser this sounds totally crazy. This is where my love for DRY SHAMPOO comes in. It's my saving grace. A staple in my mess of a bathroom closet. Can't live without it (well technically I could, but I choose not to).

I'm one of those girls who should (but doesn't) wash her hair every day or it'll look greasy. It doesn't matter if I wash it in the morning, it'll be flat and lifeless by the end of the day. There is no naturally pretty "day 2" hair for me! This is where my "magic in a can" comes into play. I've got two faves: Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo and Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender.

Don't let the name fool you, I've gotten 3 or 4 day hair outta this stuff (Perfect to take on a camping or fishing trip!). I shake the can up super good (that's the key) then hold the can and spray about 10" from my roots. *Note, if you have a dog or dogs (I have 3) they will have a sneezing fit, so make sure they aren't in the bathroom with you when spraying. Be careful not to over spray because it does take a few moments for the oils to be absorbed. Then brush it all through. You can even shoot it with your hair dryer for those extra oily days. I follow it up with a few shots of the Big Sexy Hair. I mean come on, it's called that for a reason! It's gives your hair texture with a little hold and lots of volume all while absorbing oil. It's fabulous.

I'm a fan of messy ponytails, messy buns, and effortless looking textured styles, so dry shampoos work perfectly with those styles. Another secret of mine is baby powder. I LOVE baby powder as a dry shampoo. I only suggest using this if you have super blonde hair and don't mind smelling like a sweet little baby's tush.

It's summer in Alaska, ain't nobody got time to wash their hair (please still wash your body though). 'Tis the season of camping, outdoor recreation, late nights at the ball park cheersing beers with your softball buddies, and "sipping" wine around the fire.... So please stay up late, enjoy the land of the midnight sun and invest in DRY SHAMPOO."
