Young boy finds ring lost in S.C. river

Nine-year-old Rivers Pardee was searching for shark teeth along the Stono River in South Carolina with his dad, Ed. He ended up finding something far more valuable – a wedding ring.

Rivers pulled the ring out of the mud and showed it to his dad. "It was like just a little shiny thing sticking up," Rivers said.

They took the ring home and cleaned it – and with the help of River's mom, Carrie – posted a message about the discovery on social media. Sure enough. Someone recognized the ring and reached out to the Pardee family.

It seems the ring belonged to Megan Beane, who lost it in the river a year ago. Megan's husband, Chris, retrieved the ring – and then surprised Megan with it by re-proposing.
