Shawn Mendes, Global Citizen Team For $250,000 Scholarship Fund
Shawn Mendes is all about education.
His Shawn Mendes Foundation is teaming up with Global Citizen. Mendes is contributing $250,000 to the GlobalCitizenAcademy.
The money will go toward need-based scholarships to inspire young people to be leaders.
Applications are being accepted at ShawnMendesFoundation.org until July 30th.
NBCUniversal's Peacock Streaming Service Is Here
Wednesday (July 15th) is the official launch date for NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service.
Peacock has several levels that you can subscribe to. There is a free level that features about two-thirds of the current library. It features shows like 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and movies like the Bourne series and The Matrix Trilogy.
The premium level will give you access to Peacock's original shows, early access to NBC's late-night shows, certain sports including Premier League Soccer, and more.
Premium with ads is $4.99 a month. Premium without ads is $9.99 a month.
Sony Doubles Production Of PlayStation 5
Sony's new PlayStation 5 is such a hit, the company is doubling production to be ready for the demand.
This week, the company announced to increase production from 5 million to 10 million units. The console is set to launch this holiday season.
Part of the reason for the move? Extra demand for video games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hacker Hijacks Twitter Accounts of Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Kanye West, Others
Following tweeted financial advice from Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Elon Musk and others, people handed over more than $100,000 on Wednesday in an investment that was supposed to double their money. The only problem was the advice actually came from a hacker.
A number of high-profile accounts -- which also included those owned by Kanye West, Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg -- were hijacked Wednesday, Twitter officials confirm. "We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter," officials said in a statement. "We are investigating and taking steps to fix it." Twitter has since locked all verified accounts as a precaution.
Apparently, the stock-owning public doesn't have a lot of confidence in Twitter's IT department. After news of the hack was released, the company's stock immediately began to fall, dropping 4 percent after a few hours.
