WARNING: Baby Foods Containing Toxic Metals

An alarming new report claims that a whopping 95% of store-bought baby food contains toxic metals that could be harmful for your infant's development.

The report, published at HealthyBabyFood.org, tested 168 baby products from major U.S. manufacturers. 94% of those products contained lead, while about 75% contained arsenic or cadmium and 32% contained mercury. 25% of the foods contained all four!

What it means for babies’ health: The chemicals found in baby food – arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury – are neurotoxins that can permanently alter the developing brain, erode IQ, and affect behavior.

So what can parents do? The report recommends switching to rice-free baby snacks, avoiding carrot and sweet-potato-based baby foods, and switching to water instead of fruit juice.

Have you tried a wide variety of different baby foods? Or do you make your own? As an expecting first-time-mom, I'd love to hear your recommendations!
