Medical Team Sends Insulin to Remote Island via Drone

A team of healthcare workers in Europe figured out a way to deliver life-saving insulin to those who need it on a remote island in Ireland, using a drone.

The drone delivered the medication -- and then collected blood samples to bring back, completing something the team called a “full circle of care.”

It was an important milestone because the researchers believe the technology could be used in the future to transport medicine and other supplies to remote regions or in times of natural disaster.

Thanks to the hard work of this team, even people who are hard to reach by land or sea can be helped through the air. (Irish Times)
