Big Machine Reversal: Taylor Swift Now Allowed To Perform Her Past Hits At AMAs

Taylor Swift’s former label Big Machine Label Group tried it. The label’s figurehead Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun, who recently acquired the rights to Taylor’s old catalog of music, were called out by Swift for denying her the usage of her music for a Netflix special and an upcoming American Music Award performance.

In a statement released Monday (November 18) about the upcoming AMA performance BMLG says, "The Big Machine Label Group and Dick Clark Productions announced that they have come to terms on a licensing agreement that approves their artists' performances to stream post-show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms, including the America Music Awards performance.”

Dick Clark Productions responded to the statement denying that any agreement between them and BMLG exists.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Taylor detailed the restrictions placed on her by BMLG as it pertains to her older music and the performances of the songs stating that she’s allowed to use the music only if she doesn’t re-record her older music which would allow her to regain control over the royalties of her older work.
